The EAR Foundation

Welcome to the online home of The EAR Foundation.
This website has been designed to be a resource to provide information to people who suffer from impaired hearing as well as for the people who live and work with these individuals.

Dear friends of The EAR Foundation,

Due to circumstances beyond our control it is necessary to postpone the event "An EAR for the ARTS" originally scheduled for March 20, 2008.

We hope to contact you in the near future to notify you of a new date for this worthy and exciting event.  We thank everyone for your support and we apologize if this causes you any inconvenience.  Refunds will be made for all tickets purchased.  If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Steve Masie, Chairman of the Board, The EAR Foundation at The Rogers Group, 615/242.0585.

Sincerely,

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE EAR Foundation to Host Miss Tennessee Grace Arnold Gore at Upcoming Craftsman Truck Series Race at the Nashville Superspeedway Nashville, TN- The EAR Foundation, a Nashville-based non-profit organization dedicated to enriching the lives of the hearing and balance impaired through continuing hearing health education and community outreach, began the Listen or Lose It! TM program in 2003 to help educate the public on the dangers of Noise Induced Hearing Loss. Noise Induced Hearing Loss is the number one cause of hearing loss. NIHL is painless and permanent but 100% preventable. Since 2003, the EAR Foundation along with sponsor Howard Leight has educated more than 120,000 race fans per year or nearly a half million people. As part of this education and sponsorship, Howard Leight donated the nearly 4000 pairs of earplugs given out during the July IRL race weekend. In addition to giving out hearing protection, the EAR Foundation handed out surveys sponsored by Vanderbilt University’s Audiology Department, asking race fans “How Loud is Too Loud?” The surveys were part of a joint research effort, and once the results are tallied, they will be published in October. When I spoke with EAR Foundation’s Executive Director Suzanne Wyatt about the organization’s mission and their presence at races, she had this to say: “The EAR Foundation is dedicated to offering a hearing protection solution for those who may not understand the effects of loud noise. It is our mission to protect the fans while offering the best earplugs available. If we have just a few moments to remind the fans that the noise level inside the track could potentially cause permanent hearing loss, we hope they will listen and wear the free earplugs – especially the children.” The EAR Foundation will be hosting the reigning Miss Tennessee, Grace Arnold Gore, at their booth August 11, when the Nashville Superspeedway holds the Craftsman Truck Series race. Ms. Gore, an audiology student at Vanderbilt University, has invested herself personally and professionally, with the help of her state title, to the cause supported by the EAR foundation. When Audiology Today asked about her endorsement of various audiology groups, Miss Tennessee stated, “Different audiology groups have contacted me already! I look forward to organizing fundraisers for both the EAR Foundation programs and the Vanderbilt [University] Audiology Department. So far, every interview and speaking engagement as Miss Tennessee has piqued the public’s curiosity about the field, causing people to think about the health of their own hearing. I hope to take advantage of every opportunity to make a difference this year.” Just in case The EAR Foundation’s mission and the presence of Miss Tennessee aren’t enough to garner attention for their cause, with the assistance of WRPM, the EAR Foundation will also be hosting Craftsman Truck and ARCA Series driver Bryan Silas, along with Super Late Model driver Richard Fincher, who will be signing autographs from 11:00 to 11:45 Saturday morning at the EAR Foundation booth in vendor row.
